As we move into the smart shipping era, communications and connectivity will even play a bigger part in the development of the modern shipping business.

In a report which is a co-op effort between Lloyd’s Register, theUniversity of Southamptom and QinetiQ, carefully evaluates 18 technologies’ transformative impact of the maritme industry.

The 18 technologies in question are sensors, robotics, propulsion and powering, big data analytics, smart ship, advanced materials, advanced manufacturing, autonomous systems, shipbuilding, sustainable energy generation, energy management, carbon capture and storage, marine biotechnology, cyber and electronic warfare, deep ocean mining, human-computer interaction, communication and human augmentation.

Other developments are:

  • Communications systems: we are moving into an era, that the communication with ships needs to be cheaper, faster and reliable.
  • The cloud: provides the opportunity to store information in very large quantities globally with cheap and easy access. That means that any information generated by the ship can be stored for operational, management and research purposes.
  • The Internet of things: the rise of sensors, offers the opportunity to generate digital information about equipment on board ship without the need for human intervention. This means you can monitor just about anything.
  • Smart phone technology has provided both the example and the capability to develop “apps” designed to do specific jobs extremely well and efficiently, without the need for massive computer systems.

This means that vessels need to on- or offload greater data volumes and for this you”ll need cheaper and faster connectivity solutions.

We understand this and your needs. So we have developed a modular hybrid system, with solutions to meet these requirements.

Why Choose for us, a new a Startup?

We are an Belgium based startup that understand these needs. Our mission is to disrupt the maritime connectivity market for vessels and crewmembers when they are in Port or at anchor in territorial waters worldwide.

Another advantage is, that we are lean and mean, we develop inhouse (Belgium made), with low overhead costs. We have the two biggest European Ports in a 45-minute drive radius and know our way around the Ports of Belgium and the Netherlands.
